This Myconid Sprout sculpt from The Toadstool Weaver is a wonderfully characterful take on one of the Underdark's most curious inhabitants. Squat and wide-capped, the sprout stands with that particular brand of guileless composure that only a creature with no concept of danger can manage. A broad, layered mushroom cap dominates the silhouette — its gills and ridges deeply defined and a genuine joy to drybrush — while a collar of plump, segmented fungal growths rings the body like a puffed-up cloak. The stalk-legs are sturdy and simple, grounding the sculpt with an almost endearing waddle-at-rest quality.

Myconid Sprouts in D&D are CR 0 creatures — technically harmless — yet they carry enormous narrative weight. They are the children of the colony, tended by sovereign and adult alike, and encountering one alone raises immediate questions: is it lost? Is it a lure? Is the whole cavern already watching? This sculpt leans into that uncanny charm. Paint it in cool blues and acid greens to evoke deep-cave bioluminescence, or push into warmer ochres and purples for a more autumnal, surface-world fungal feel.

Available with or without a plain base — the no-base option sits flush on existing terrain or bespoke scenic bases, while the plain base option gives you a solid, ready-to-texture starting point.

  • Adventurers running atmospheric Underdark campaigns with non-combat myconid encounters
  • Dungeon Masters wanting to populate cavern scatter terrain with living flora
  • Painters drawn to the challenge of OSL (object source lighting) on organic, rounded forms
  • Collectors building out a full myconid colony display — sprouts, adults, and sovereigns alike

Encounter Hook: The party descends into a flooded cavern and finds a single Myconid Sprout sitting motionless at the water's edge, releasing slow pulses of pale spores into the dark. It does not flee. It does not speak. It simply turns its cap toward the nearest light source and waits — as though it has been expecting them for a very long time.
