Myconid Sprouts are the smallest and youngest of the fungus folk — barely knee-height to a halfling, yet possessed of an uncanny, alien awareness. This sculpt captures that quality beautifully: a roly-poly little form with a broad, domed cap, stubby arms held slightly out from its sides, and a face of simple spore-holes that somehow manages to look both vacant and deeply attentive at the same time. There's something endearing and just slightly unsettling about it, which is exactly right for a creature that communicates entirely through clouds of spores.
The Toadstool Weaver has a gift for plant and fungal folk with genuine personality, and this Sprout is no exception. It reads as charmingly harmless — until your party remembers that even the smallest myconid can release rapport spores, and that the Sovereign is never far away. Paint it in a gradient of luminous greens and teals to match the render, or go richer with deep purples and amber bioluminescence for a more classically Underdark palette. Either way, it'll be a joy to work through.
This miniature is equally suited to encounter-building and display collecting. A cluster of Sprouts on a mossy shelf or scattered across a cavern encounter map makes for atmosphere that a flat token simply cannot replicate.
Well suited for adventurers who:
- Are running an Underdark arc featuring myconid colonies
- Want characterful fungal folk to populate cavern encounters
- Enjoy painting organic, plant-like miniatures with interesting colour blending opportunities
- Collect display pieces from across the plant creature spectrum
Encounter Hook
The party discovers a Sprout alone in an otherwise empty tunnel, rocking gently and emitting faint pulses of bioluminescent light. It isn't lost — it's a scout, and it has already sent rapport spores spiralling back through the rock toward something much larger and much older. They have approximately six minutes before whatever sent it arrives.
