This third variant in The Toadstool Weaver's myconid range presents a gaunt, upright fungal creature with an unmistakably alien silhouette. The sculpt features a tall, ridged cap head swept back to a sharp point, a lean torso ribbed with organic veining, and four multi-jointed arms splayed wide — trailing tattered, membrane-like growths at their tips. Every surface is textured with the fine striations and fibrous detail you'd expect from a living creature of fungus and mycelium. The stance is confrontational: weight forward, arms open, as though mid-ritual or mid-threat. This is a creature that communicates not with words but with spores, and the sculpt captures that eerie, purposeful stillness.
As the third sculpt in the series, this variant distinguishes itself with its broader arm spread and more dramatic cap silhouette compared to the other myconid poses — making it a natural choice as a sovereign, elder, or spore druid within a colony encounter group. It works brilliantly alongside the other myconid variants to build out a full colony, or stands on its own as a centrepiece creature for a cave or Underdark-set session.
Whether you're running Out of the Abyss, a homebrew Underdark delve, or a campaign where the party stumbles into a myconid village seeking safe passage, this miniature brings genuine character to the table. It's equally compelling as a painted display piece — the organic texture across the cap, torso, and limbs rewards careful layering and drybrushing.
This miniature suits adventurers who:
- Are running Underdark campaigns and need a distinctive myconid sovereign or elder
- Want to build out a full myconid colony encounter group across multiple variants
- Play or DM with plant-creature or fungal monster encounters
- Enjoy painting organic textures — veining, spores, and fibrous detail
- Collect display miniatures with strong, unusual silhouettes
Encounter Hook: The party descends into a cavern lit by bioluminescent fungi, only to find a circle of myconids surrounding a petrified drow scout. At the centre, this spore-walker raises its arms and releases a cloud of rapport spores — not to attack, but to speak. It has a warning. The drow was not the first to pass through, and whatever came before left the colony's outer ring in silence.
