- ✔ Supplied unpainted — ideal as a centrepiece painting project
- ✔ Designed for display shelves and painting competitions
Mycelia is no mere dryad or forest spirit — she is something stranger and older, her humanity half-remembered beneath the great bloom of fungal growth that frames her face like a crown of gathered silk. The sculpt captures her in a liminal moment: expression composed but otherworldly, eyes narrowed as though she sees through you rather than at you, the broad mushroom cap spreading dramatically above her in layered, flowing forms that suggest both organic growth and something almost regal.
The bust presents Mycelia from the chest upward, her shoulders bare and her form caught between the warmth of a living creature and the cool stillness of the forest floor. The fungal canopy above her head is rendered with extraordinary surface detail — folded, rippled, and layered in a way that rewards careful painting with glazes, washes, and OSL effects. From the rear, the mass of the cap reads as a bold sculptural silhouette, making this a compelling piece from every angle on a display shelf.
Whether she becomes a patron of the myconid colonies in your campaign, an ancient intelligence woven into the Underdark's root systems, or simply a breathtaking painting project, Mycelia brings something genuinely distinctive to a collection.
This bust would suit adventurers who:
- Paint display-scale pieces and enjoy complex organic textures
- Run Underdark or forest campaigns featuring fungal, fey, or plant-type entities
- Collect large-scale busts as painting centrepieces or shelf displays
- Want a character who reads as neither fully mortal nor fully monstrous
- Are entering painting competitions and want a sculpt with serious visual drama
Encounter Hook: The party follows a trail of bioluminescent spores deep into the Underdark, expecting a myconid colony — instead they find a clearing where Mycelia sits motionless on a throne of interlocked root and cap, her eyes opening slowly as the first adventurer steps inside the ring. She does not attack. She simply says: "You have been walking through me for three days. I wondered when you would notice."
