This is the Minotaur Prisoner 01 from Novaminis — a sculpt that immediately tells a story without a word of description needed. The minotaur kneels, wrists bound behind its back by a heavy leather belt, ankles shackled with thick iron manacles joined by a short chain. Hooved feet, a powerful build, and that unmistakable bull's head with broad curling horns — and yet the posture carries no submission. This is a creature that has been restrained, not broken.
The detail across the sculpt is quietly exceptional: the lacing of the leather breeches, the craftsmanship of the shackle ironwork, the musculature that even in captivity communicates raw physical threat. Paint it with rust-streaked iron chains, blood-dark leather, and fur in deep earthy tones and you'll have a centrepiece encounter piece unlike anything a pre-painted set could offer.
This variation — number 01 — is one sculpt in this pose. The 01 designation distinguishes it from other prisoner variants in the series, so adventurers building out a full encounter or display scene can collect with confidence.
Whether this minotaur is an NPC your party has been sent to rescue, a gladiatorial fighter the villain parades in chains, or simply a magnificent painting project for a display shelf, this sculpt earns its place at the table.
- Dungeon Masters running gladiatorial arena campaigns or underdark prison encounters
- Painters who want a characterful, emotionally charged subject with rich surface detail
- Adventurers building narrative dioramas or multi-figure display scenes
- Anyone who wants a minotaur that tells a story before a single die is rolled
Encounter Hook: The party descends into the subterranean fighting pits beneath the city — and finds this minotaur chained in a holding pen, days from being forced into the arena. It watches them with calculating amber eyes and speaks one sentence in broken Common: "Free me. I know where the Warden keeps the keys to every cell in this place."
