Mind flayers are among the most feared intellects in the known planes: ancient, patient, and utterly alien in their ambitions. These two sculpts from Galaad Miniatures capture distinct facets of illithid menace. The first pose shows a mind flayer in layered robes and a swept cloak, arms outstretched with clawed hands grasping — mid-lunge, as though reaching directly into someone's skull. The second strikes a broader, more commanding stance: robes open, arms raised wide, a skull adorning its sash, tentacles splayed as psionic energy coils around it. Both sculpts carry that particular quality of wrongness that makes illithids so effective at the table — humanoid enough to unsettle, alien enough to horrify.

Together they work brilliantly as paired agents of a mind flayer elder brain, rival illithids with competing schemes, or a single character represented across two encounters. Both are equally well suited to painting and display as they are to active use in your campaign.

Encounter Hook:
The party is hired to find a missing sage — last seen entering a restricted archive beneath the university. When they arrive, they find the archive perfectly intact, every book in place, and the sage seated calmly at a desk. He greets them by name, smiles, and asks how they knew to come. He has not blinked once since they entered the room. Two figures stand at the far end of the stacks, cloaks still, tentacles barely moving.
