Few traps in the dungeon master's arsenal carry the same gut-punch satisfaction as a well-placed mimic — and fewer still arrive with as much theatrical flair as this Mimic Well from Novaminis. Sculpted with extraordinary detail, the well reads, at first glance, exactly as it should: a sturdy thatched roof, iron-banded barrel sides, a wooden winding mechanism, and a convincingly weathered finish throughout. Place it on the table and your players will walk straight past it.

The revealed state tells a different story. The roof has wrenched itself askew, the barrel sides have buckled outward under the pressure of something very much alive within, and a grotesque mouth lined with curved teeth has erupted through the woodwork. Bulbous mimic eyes peer out from the chaos of splintered timber, while meaty pseudopod-like limbs grip the structure from within. It is the same well. It is absolutely not a well.

Both sculpts share the same characterful Novaminis design language — expressive, slightly monstrous, and packed with surface texture that rewards careful painting. The wood grain reads clearly across both pieces, giving painters a consistent base to work from whether they want to play up the disguise or go all-in on the horror of the reveal.
