The Mimic Sign is one of those scatter terrain pieces that earns its place at the table twice over — first as innocent dressing, then as a delicious moment of chaos. In its dormant state, it's a perfectly ordinary-looking wooden hanging sign suspended from a timber crossbeam post, the kind of weathered landmark you'd find outside any dungeon merchant or roadside inn. Nothing suspicious. Move along.

Flip to the revealed state and the illusion shatters spectacularly. The sign board peels open to expose a gaping maw lined with savage, irregular teeth, a lolling tongue, and one wide, wild eye — every inch the monstrous shapeshifter caught mid-lunge. The surface texture shifts from smooth wood grain to the warty, chitinous hide of a mimic in full ambush mode. The craftsmanship on the transition between mundane prop and ravenous predator is genuinely satisfying to paint — two completely distinct textures sharing one sculpt.
