Mimics are the dungeon master's most beloved ambush predator, and this sculpt from Novaminis gives them a gloriously theatrical disguise. The Mimic Fountain 01 bundle includes two complementary pieces: the Hidden version — a detailed three-tiered stone fountain, complete with scalloped basins, carved column, and an ornate finial spire — and the Revealed version, where the creature's true nature erupts in full grotesque glory: a wide, fang-lined maw gapes beneath the fountain's upper tiers, a thick muscular tongue lolling forward, the body bristling with rows of jagged spines and clawed appendages gripping the basin's rim.

The craftsmanship across both pieces rewards painters who like contrast work. The Hidden fountain's stonework tiers are clean and architectural — a canvas for wet-blending aged marble or verdigris effects. The Revealed version offers something far more visceral: glistening skin texture, deeply sculpted teeth, and the grotesque tension of a predator mid-lunge. Encounter Hook: The party has been tracking a series of disappearances in the merchant quarter of a prosperous city. Witnesses describe victims last seen approaching the decorative fountain in the central plaza — drawn, perhaps, by the sound of running water on a dry afternoon. When the adventurers investigate at dusk, the fountain sits perfectly still. No water flows. And then one of them steps a little too close to admire the stonework.
