This is pose 01 of our Merrow Shaman range, sculpted by Novaminis. The Merrow in D&D lore are the ocean's answer to the brutish violence of their surface cousins — twisted, deep-dwelling humanoids with a hunger for cruelty and a taste for the arcane. This shaman takes that concept and pushes it somewhere genuinely unsettling. One clawed arm reaches forward with a grasping, outstretched hand, whilst the other wields a bone-and-chain staff topped with a hanging skull — a grotesque focus for whatever dark tide-magic this creature channels. The body is all warlord and sea-horror: a heavily textured torso studded with spines and nodules, trailing tendrils of seaweed or sinew from the head, and a thick, scaled fish-tail that anchors the whole silhouette. The finned tail sweeps dramatically behind, giving the sculpt real dynamic presence from every angle.
Whether you need a shaman leading a Merrow war-band, a boss encounter in a coastal dungeon, or a centrepiece for your undersea encounter collection, this sculpt brings genuine menace to the table. The detail holds up brilliantly for painters — the layered textures of scale, spine, and sinew offer a wealth of surfaces to work with, and the skull staff is a characterful focal point for basing your colour scheme around. Equally at home on a gaming table or a display shelf.
Perfect for adventurers who:
- Need a spell-casting Merrow leader or boss for a coastal or underwater D&D encounter
- Are running a sea-themed campaign, a Ghosts of Saltmarsh adventure, or a sunken-city arc
- Want a characterful, lore-grounded monster miniature for their display collection
- Enjoy detailed, high-relief sculpts that reward careful painting
Encounter Hook:
The fishing village has been leaving offerings at the waterline — fish heads, corroded coins, a child's toy — for three weeks now. When the party investigates, they discover the villagers are not appeasing the sea out of tradition. They are following orders. And the shaman standing waist-deep in the shallows, skull-staff raised, is very unhappy to have witnesses.
