Description

Barely the height of a halfling's knee, the mephit is no less dangerous for it — a spiteful little predator of the elemental planes, all teeth and spite and snapping wings.

  • ✔ 32mm scale resin miniature, printed fresh to order in the UK
  • ✔ Supplied unpainted and ready to prime
  • ✔ Compatible with D&D, Pathfinder, and all tabletop RPGs
  • ✔ Equally at home on the gaming table or the display shelf

Mephits occupy a strange and unsettling niche in the bestiary — small enough to be underestimated, fast enough to be a genuine nuisance, and mean enough to make adventurers regret ignoring them. This sculpt captures that scuttling, ground-level menace in full: wings flung wide, clawed toes gripping the ground, and that distinctive fang-filled grimace of a creature that is fully aware it is more dangerous than it looks.

This is the second variation in MZ4250's Monstrous Menagerie 2025 mephit release — distinguished by its low, crouching stance with wings spread aggressively to each side, as though caught mid-screech or bracing for a lunge. The lightweight build of this sculpt makes it a satisfying painting project: the stretched membrane of the wings rewards thin washes and wet-blending, while the wiry musculature beneath reads well in drybrushed highlights.

Whether you're deploying a squabbling pack of mephits as a chaotic elemental encounter or placing one as a sorcerer's irritable messenger, this mini brings personality and presence to whatever scene it occupies.

Suits adventurers who:

  • Run elemental plane encounters and want small, flavourful antagonists
  • Need a classic D&D monster represented with character and detail
  • Enjoy painting winged creatures with expressive wing membranes
  • Want to populate an Underdark, Abyss, or elemental gate with unsettling minor creatures
  • Appreciate MZ4250's faithful, lore-grounded approach to monster sculpting

Encounter Hook: The party descends into a flooded obsidian chamber — and discovers the heat is coming not from the walls, but from three mephits nesting on the altar at the far end. The largest one opens its wings and lets out a sound somewhere between a hiss and a cackle. It has stolen the key to the vault door. It knows this. It is delighted about this.
