Master of the Hurdy Gurdy Pirate Bard (Bossman Bill) by DM Stash
Description
They heard him before they saw him — the droning rasp of a hurdy-gurdy cutting through the salt wind, and then Bossman Bill himself, broad as a barrel and twice as loud, striding across the deck with one hand on the crank and the other outstretched like he owned the horizon.

Bossman Bill is a character who demands attention the moment he hits the table. Part pirate, part performer, all personality — this bard sculpt from DM Stash's Blood on the Sails collection captures him mid-performance: his quilted coat billowing in the sea breeze, a finely detailed hurdy-gurdy held low like a weapon, and one arm flung wide as he belts out a shanty that may or may not be enchanted. The thick beard, bandana, and layered seafarer's kit mark him instantly as a salt-weathered veteran of the waves, while the ornate scrollwork on his instrument hints at a past far more complicated than he lets on.
The sculpt rewards close attention — the crosshatched texture of his coat, the buckled boots, the carved detail on the hurdy-gurdy's body, and the movement caught in the windswept cloak at his back all read beautifully at 32mm. Whether you paint him up in weathered sea-stained tones or vivid performer's colours, this is a miniature that carries presence across a crowded gaming table.
A fine addition for adventurers who:
- Need a charismatic pirate bard for their seafaring or nautical campaign
- Want a memorable named NPC — a ship's entertainer, a smuggler's mouthpiece, or a surprisingly dangerous ally
- Are playing or DMing a Blood on the Sails-inspired campaign
- Collect character minis with strong visual identity and display appeal
- Want a Bard PC mini with genuine swagger and a distinctive instrument
Encounter Hook:
The party spots Bossman Bill holding court in the corner of a harbourside tavern, his hurdy-gurdy wailing over the noise of the crowd. Three tables of sailors have gone glassy-eyed and still — they've been in a Charm trance for the better part of an hour. Bill catches the party's gaze, winks, and keeps playing. He has information they need. The price is a favour. The favour is almost certainly illegal.
