It doesn't roar before it strikes — it simply lowers its maned head, spreads those membrane wings, and charges from the treeline before you even hear it coming.

This is Manticore 02 from Yasashii Kyojin Studio — the second pose in their manticore range, and a striking contrast to the first. Where other sculpts might rear up or snarl skyward, this one hunts. The beast is caught mid-stalk: body low to the ground, massive lion's paws splayed and gripping, its barbed tail curling overhead and those great leathery wings half-spread as if moments from launching. The mane is sculpted in dense, layered tufts that frame a snarling face fixed on its prey — your party. At 50mm tall, this is a large-base encounter piece with genuine presence on the table.

In D&D 5e, a manticore is a Large Monstrosity with tail spike volleys and a terrifying pounce — this sculpt captures that predatory energy with every line. Whether you're dropping it into a moorland ambush, a warlord's menagerie, or the hunting grounds of a corrupt noble, this pose communicates immediate, barely-restrained violence. Equally at home on a display shelf where the detail of those folded wing membranes and raking claws rewards close attention.

Suited to adventurers who:

  • Want a large creature encounter piece that reads clearly at the table
  • Are running wilderness, moorland, or open-sky encounter sequences
  • Collect Yasashii Kyojin Studio sculpts and want both manticore poses
  • Love a detailed centrepiece mini that paints up beautifully

Encounter Hook:
The merchant's wagon has been found overturned on the high road, its contents scattered and two of the horses simply gone. A single barbed tail spike — nearly 30cm long — is embedded in the wagon's side. Whatever brought it down is still in the valley, and the shepherd's fires have not been lit for three nights running.
