He hasn't mastered the spell yet — but the fire in his hand suggests he's getting dangerously close.

There's something both earnest and unnerving about this young mage: spellbook open in one hand, a tongue of conjured flame curling from the other, expression set with the focused intensity of someone who has read the theory and is now, perhaps unwisely, testing it. He wears long flowing robes with a high collar and a simple sash — the attire of a scholar who hasn't yet earned the fancier vestments, but who clearly means to.

The sculpt captures that liminal moment of a magic-user mid-incantation, one foot forward, weight balanced as though braced against the force of the spell. It's a pose that reads equally well as a player character Wizard burning a cantrip in a corridor, a young Sorcerer whose powers are beginning to manifest in alarming ways, or an NPC apprentice employed by a more senior mage — one who may or may not have his employer's best interests at heart.

The detail in the flame effect is particularly noteworthy: wisps of sculpted fire rise from his palm in a naturalistic cluster, offering painters a genuinely satisfying focal point. The spellbook is open and angled, its pages suggested with enough texture to reward a careful dry-brush pass. His face — bald, sharp-featured, intense — gives him real personality without locking him into any single interpretation.

This mini suits adventurers who:

  • Need a Wizard or Sorcerer player character with a bookish, disciplined feel
  • Want an arcane NPC — apprentice, failed student, or ambitious junior mage — for their campaign
  • Are running a magic academy, thieves' guild with a spellcasting arm, or a tower full of dangerous young talents
  • Love a mini with a clear focal point that rewards careful painting
  • Play characters who believe knowledge and power are the same thing — and are starting to prove it

Encounter Hook: The party is sent to retrieve a stolen relic from a mage's tower. The senior mage is absent. His apprentice is home — and he's been practising unsupervised for three weeks. The spellbook is open to a page it definitely shouldn't be. The flame in his hand is the colour of something other than fire. He smiles when he sees them, and it doesn't quite reach his eyes.
