Maid 02 by Novaminis

She's heard every sorry excuse from every sellsword who ever stumbled through that door, and her expression makes it clear she's not impressed by this lot either.

Maid 02 from Novaminis is a characterful tavern NPC bursting with personality. She stands with both hands planted firmly on her hips, chin lifted and expression sharp — the kind of woman who runs a taproom with quiet authority and doesn't need a weapon to make troublemakers think twice. Her long skirt is rendered with fine stitched detailing along the hem and split edge, and her laced bodice is sculpted with care. Her braided hair is loosely tied back, a few strands loose around her shoulders, giving her a lived-in, workday look that reads as entirely believable.

This is the second variation in Novaminis' Maid series, and where the first pose may differ in stance or expression, this sculpt leans into quiet defiance — she is not afraid of you, and she wants you to know it. A superb subject for painters who enjoy expressive faces and textured cloth, with enough surface detail to reward careful layering and washes without being so complex as to overwhelm.

Bring her to your table if you are:

• Building out a tavern or inn scene with memorable NPCs
• Running a social encounter where the party needs information from a sharp-eyed local
• Seeking a display piece that tells a story without needing a monster in the frame
• Adding civilian depth to an urban campaign or Ravenloft gothic setting
• A painter who loves characterful faces and cloth textures

Encounter Hook

The party asks the maid about the merchant who went missing three nights ago. She sets down the tankard she's been wiping, fixes each of them in turn with a look that could curdle milk, and says: "He paid his tab on the last night. That's more than most of you will manage." She knows something. She's deciding whether any of you are worth telling.
