This is Maid 01 by Novaminis — a civilian NPC sculpt brimming with personality. Dressed in a practical laced bodice and long working skirt, she wears the unmistakable expression of someone who has just seen something they absolutely should not have. One arm is raised, palm out — a gesture that reads equally as a warning, a plea, or a desperate attempt to stop the party from doing something reckless. Braided hair bound by a headband, stout practical shoes, and a wristband on her left arm complete the look. She is thoroughly grounded in the workaday world of inns, manor houses, and merchant quarters.
The sculpt captures a specific, believable moment of tension. This is the maid who witnesses the assassination, who hears the password through the thin wall of the study, who stumbles upon the hidden passage behind the wine rack. In the hands of a clever Dungeon Master, she is worth far more to the story than any monster in the bestiary.
This is variation 01 — Novaminis offer multiple maid sculpts, so adventurers building out a full tavern or noble household have options to choose from across the range.
Particularly useful for adventurers who:
- Run tavern-based sessions and want believable background NPCs
- Need a civilian witness, informant, or accidental bystander for urban intrigue plots
- Are building a noble manor, inn, or guild hall diorama or display scene
- Want to bring human NPCs to life at the table rather than relying on theatre of the mind
Encounter Hook: The players arrive at the Gilded Flagon to question the innkeeper, only to find the common room empty — except for one white-faced maid standing in the middle of the floor, one hand raised, staring at the door to the cellar. She hasn't moved in ten minutes. She won't say what she saw. But she absolutely will not lower that hand.
