Mage Hunter by Monster Atlas
Description
No one knows what the Mage Hunter was before it came through — only that it hungers for arcane energy, and it can smell a spellcaster from three corridors away.
- ✔ 32mm scale resin miniature, printed fresh to order in the UK
- ✔ Supplied unpainted and ready to prime
- ✔ Compatible with D&D, Pathfinder, and all tabletop RPGs
- ✔ Equally at home on the gaming table or the display shelf
The Mage Hunter is a deeply unsettling creature: part insectoid, part something far worse. Across its three sculpted variants, it presents with a domed chitinous skull, writhing psionic tendrils trailing from the crown, a segmented scorpion-like tail armed with a hooked stinger, and a bristling array of curved talons that suggest both predatory speed and terrifying close-quarters lethality. The wide jaw, crammed with jagged teeth, sits below hollow eye sockets that betray nothing — not cunning, not hunger, just the cold efficiency of a thing built to kill.
Each variant captures a different posture: the first rearing forward with all limbs splayed in a full threat display; the second coiling low with one great talon drawn back, poised to strike; the third viewed from behind, the scorpion tail arched high and the creature's impossible musculature fully on show. Together they make a superb set for Dungeon Masters who want their encounters to feel like a genuine revelation — or for collectors who want all three angles of one of Monster Atlas's most distinctive sculpts on the display shelf.
Suited to adventurers who:
- Run Underdark, Far Realm, or alien-invasion-style D&D campaigns
- Need a CR-appropriate aberrant predator for mid-to-high-tier encounters
- Want a dramatic boss or apex threat that visually dominates the table
- Are building a display collection of high-detail monster sculpts
- Paint Contrast or zenithal-style and want a sculpt with deep texture and strong silhouette
Encounter Hook:
The party's Wizard is the first to notice — every time she casts a spell, something in the passage ahead goes still, then moves closer. By the time the torchlight catches its silhouette, her spell slots are already half spent, and the Mage Hunter has been counting.
Details
Supplied at 32mm scale. The model and base are separate pieces — attach with super glue. The decorative base complements the sculpt and some models interact with it directly, so we recommend using both together. Ready for priming and painting straight out of the box.
