Mad Eye Jar by Epic Miniatures

It sits cross-legged in the dust of a forgotten chamber, one enormous eye fixed upon you with the calm curiosity of something that has watched civilisations rise and crumble — and finds you merely... interesting.

The Mad Eye Jar is one of those sculpts that rewards a long look. Seated in a composed, cross-legged pose, this robed aberrant figure raises a ceramic jar aloft in one clawed hand whilst holding what appears to be a shallow dish or lid in the other — as though mid-ritual, mid-appraisal, or mid-something-you-really-shouldn't-interrupt. The centrepiece of the sculpt is its head: a broad mechanical ring frames a single enormous eye, the whole assemblage suggesting something between a homunculus, a bound servitor, and an entity that has simply chosen a different approach to faces.

The robes drape beautifully — layered, frayed at the hem, and pooling around the figure's seated form with the kind of fabric detail that takes well to a wash and a highlight. A glimpse of something brain-like peeks from beneath the cloak at the rear, adding another layer of unsettling texture for adventurers who love a miniature with hidden depths. The clawed hands and bare forearms contrast with the scholarly stillness of the pose, implying this creature is far more dangerous when it decides to stop sitting still.

Whether you deploy it as an aberrant collector hoarding extracted memories in enchanted jars, a bound familiar serving an Underdark warlock, or a peculiar quest-giver whose motives are entirely opaque, the Mad Eye Jar earns its place at any table. It's equally compelling as a centrepiece painting project on the display shelf.

• Adventurers running Underdark intrigue campaigns featuring strange servitors and hidden cults
• Dungeon Masters who want an NPC that will unsettle the party before a single word of dialogue
• Painters drawn to robed figures with rich fabric texture and a single focal-point feature to highlight
• Anyone building an aberration encounter that needs something genuinely unlike anything else in the collection

Encounter Hook: The party discovers a sealed vault beneath a ruined observatory. Inside, the Mad Eye Jar sits motionless at the centre of a circle of empty ceramic vessels — each one, they gradually realise, labelled in a different script. It turns its single eye towards them and extends the open dish in its lower hand. It is waiting for them to place something inside. It has been waiting for a very long time.
