This is pose 01 of the Lord of the Grove Soldier range from Witchsong Miniatures, and it captures a feral, forward-momentum aggression that sets it apart from a standard humanoid fighter. The sculpt depicts a lean, bestial warrior in mid-charge — feathered armour spreading from the back and shoulders like the wings of a hunting bird, a massive war hammer gripped two-handed and swung with clear intent. The face is distinctly animalistic, with a ram-like curved horn and furred features suggesting something neither fully beast nor fully man. Tattered wrappings cover the forearms and waist, and the clawed feet grip a jagged rocky base as the figure surges forward.
For Dungeon Masters, this soldier reads immediately as a guardian of something ancient and territorial — a frontline enforcer for a Feywild warlord, a corrupted nature spirit bound to serve, or a warrior from a faction of the wild hunt. The detail in the feathered armour and the dynamism of the pose make it equally at home on a gaming table mid-combat or displayed on a shelf as part of a fey court diorama.
Suited to adventurers who:
- Are running a Feywild arc and need a believable, threatening warrior rank-and-file
- Want a visually distinct enemy that communicates wild, primal danger without a word
- Are building a fey warband or Lord of the Grove encounter force
- Collect fantasy miniatures with character and dynamic energy
Encounter Hook:
The party has entered the Thornwood Reaches without leaving an offering at the boundary stone. Three days into the forest, they hear the crack of branches — and through the canopy gaps, they see something loping between the trees on all fours, hammer in hand, closing fast. It has been tracking them since the first mile.
