Lord of the Grove Bust by Witchsong Miniatures
Description
He was once a guardian of the ancient wood — now the grove itself has consumed him, bark splitting over sinew, antlers grown wild with something older and far less merciful.
- ✔ Large-scale display bust — significantly bigger than standard 32mm
- ✔ Resin printed fresh to order in the UK
- ✔ Supplied unpainted — ideal as a centrepiece painting project
- ✔ Designed for display shelves and painting competitions
The Lord of the Grove is a display bust of extraordinary character: a corrupted forest sovereign whose face twists between agony and fury, his jaw stretched wide in a silent roar as gnarled antlers spiral upward from a crown of knotted wood. Layers of bark-like armour wrap his chest, every ridge and hollow carved with the texture of living timber gone feral. This is not a gentle druid or a serene treant — this is what the forest becomes when it stops caring about your prayers.
As a display bust, this piece is designed to showcase painting technique, expressive sculpt detail, and raw presence. The composition rewards careful layering — bark tones, verdigris, shadow pooling in the deep hollows of that wrenched open mouth — and will hold its own on any painter's shelf or display cabinet. It also serves as a compelling visual anchor for a campaign: a defiled god of the wood, a cursed patron, or the final form of a druid NPC who bargained once too often with something beneath the roots.
A worthwhile addition for adventurers who:
- Paint display busts and want a piece with exceptional textural range — bark, antler, flesh, and foliage all in one sculpt
- Are building a forest corruption or nature-horror arc and want a centrepiece NPC to anchor it
- Collect character busts for shelves, display cabinets, or painting competitions
- Need a visual prop for a druidic patron, a fallen forest deity, or a Fey-touched boss encounter
Encounter Hook: The party enters the Heartwood Glade to negotiate safe passage — and finds the Grove Warden they were sent to speak with is no longer speaking. He stands at the glade's centre, bark sealed over his eyes, antlers draped in crow feathers, and the roots beneath the clearing are moving towards the party's feet.
