Description

The thunder of hooves announces him before the glint of his raised sword — Sir Robilar, legendary fighter and mounted warlord, bearing a demon-faced shield that has seen a hundred campaigns.

  • ✔ 32mm scale resin miniature, printed fresh to order in the UK
  • ✔ Supplied unpainted and ready to prime
  • ✔ Compatible with D&D, Pathfinder, and all tabletop RPGs
  • ✔ Equally at home on the gaming table or the display shelf

Few figures on the tabletop command attention like a fully armoured knight on horseback, and Sir Robilar does not disappoint. This sculpt from Monster Atlas captures the legendary fighter mid-charge: sword thrust skyward, long hair swept back, and a battle-worn expression that speaks of hard-fought victories and harder decisions. His plate armour is detailed with layered pauldrons, articulated gauntlets, and a richly textured breastplate — the kind of kit that tells its own story without a word of exposition.

The mount is equally compelling — a warhorse clad in fitted barding, moving at a purposeful canter with all four hooves clear of the ground. The horse's armour plates interlock naturally across the neck and flanks, while the saddle and stirrups provide satisfying detail for painters who want to work on the full composition rather than just the rider.

The defining feature of this piece is the demon-faced shield — a grotesque, grinning face adorned with radiating spikes that sits strapped at the horse's flank. It immediately marks Sir Robilar as something more than a rank-and-file cavalryman. This is a warrior who has taken trophies, held ground that shouldn't have been held, and come back for more. Two render angles show the shield prominently, while a third variant presents the rider without the shield for a cleaner, more classical mounted knight silhouette — useful if your campaign's Sir Robilar is less the grim veteran and more the noble commander.

Well-suited for adventurers who:

  • Need a high-level fighter, warlord, or paladin NPC to anchor a political or military campaign arc
  • Are playing a mounted fighter or cavalier and want a miniature that carries genuine gravitas
  • Want a BBEG or rival champion who can face down an entire party on horseback
  • Are building a display piece that showcases mounted miniature painting techniques
  • Run Arthurian, historical-fantasy, or classic high-fantasy campaigns where legendary knights are central

Encounter Hook

The party has just reached the ridge overlooking the valley — and there he is. Sir Robilar sits motionless on his armoured warhorse at the centre of the enemy line, that demon-faced shield gleaming in the low afternoon sun. He raises his sword slowly, not at the party, but at the fort they were hired to protect. He doesn't charge. He waits. He's done this before.
