This is pose 01 of our Kuo-Toa range, sculpted by Yasashii Kyojin Studios. The sculpt captures a fish-folk warrior in a wide, crouching fighting stance — weight forward, jaw agape, rows of jagged teeth bared. In its primary hand it grips a long barbed spear tipped with a wicked hook, the shaft ringed near the base. Its body is covered in overlapping scales that sweep down to wide, webbed feet, and a tall dorsal fin crests its misshapen skull. A satchel and a bundle of bone or driftwood straps hang across its back — the gear of a creature that lives and fights in the deep places of the world. The raised free hand, clawed fingers spread, gives the whole pose an unsettling sense of lunging momentum.

Kuo-Toa make formidable encounter pieces — fanatical, alien, and utterly at home in Underdark campaigns, coastal dungeon delves, or wherever an aberrant fish-folk cult has taken root. This sculpt reads well both on the tabletop and on a display shelf, with enough surface detail to reward careful painting.

Suited to adventurers who:

  • Run Underdark encounters or Out of the Abyss-style campaigns
  • Want a characterful rank-and-file Kuo-Toa to field in numbers
  • Are building a fish-folk lair or deep-water cult tableau
  • Enjoy painting scaled creatures with layered, organic texture
  • Collect 32mm monster miniatures for display

Encounter Hook:
The party's boat runs aground on a sandbar three hours from port — and as the fog rolls in off the black water, they hear a rhythmic clicking from beneath the hull. Torchlight catches the tip of a barbed spear rising from the shallows, then another, then a third. The Kuo-Toa of the Drowned Archpriest have been watching the trade route for weeks, and tonight they have decided to collect their tithe.
