This kobold rogue cuts a distinctive silhouette — crouching low in a stalker's stance, cloak billowing behind, dagger extended and ready. The sculpt captures the creature mid-prowl: scaled legs coiled with tension, pointed ears framing a reptilian face half-shadowed beneath a deep hood. The scaly texture of the limbs contrasts sharply with the smooth sweep of the travelling cloak, giving the piece a satisfying visual rhythm that rewards careful painting.
Kobolds are easy to underestimate — which is precisely what makes them dangerous. This particular sculpt leans into the rogue archetype with conviction: the blade is forward, the posture is purposeful, and there's something in the hunch of those shoulders that speaks of a creature who knows every shadow in a room before it walks through the door. Whether this is a villainous schemer, a street-side informant, or a surprisingly competent player character who keeps rolling natural 20s on Stealth, the miniature earns its place at the table.
The detailing on this sculpt — from the subtle plate-like scales on the legs and feet to the layered wrap of the hood — makes it a genuinely rewarding painting project. The cloak offers broad, smooth surfaces that hold washes beautifully, while the scaled skin is tailor-made for drybrushing and layering techniques.
This miniature works especially well for adventurers who:
- Play kobold rogues, rangers, or assassins as a player character
- Need a cunning low-CR villain or recurring antagonist NPC
- Run kobold-heavy dungeon encounters with varied sculpts
- Want a characterful solo piece for display or diorama work
- Enjoy painting scaled skin, fabric, and fine hood details
Encounter Hook
The guild master said the stolen idol would be recovered quietly. What nobody mentioned was the kobold who took it — a cloaked figure who slipped past three locked doors, a sleeping guard, and a warded vault in the space of twenty minutes. Now the party has been hired not to chase it, but to hire it. Somewhere in the city's undermarket, blending into the shadows between stalls, it is waiting to be found — or not. That part is up to the Dungeon Master.
