This kobold miniature from Mia Kay M3DM is far from the disposable tunnel-guard you might expect. Sculpted in a tender, narrative pose, she kneels beside a young dragon hatchling, one hand resting gently on its horn as if steadying it — or being steadied herself. Her scaled skin, short horns, and rough rope-tied skirt speak to a life lived underground, but the moment captured here is one of quiet devotion. The hatchling, scaly and heavy-lidded, leans into her touch with the ease of long familiarity. Together, they tell a story before a single dice is rolled.
This is the kind of miniature that earns a place at the centre of an encounter — not as a simple enemy, but as a character. A kobold who would do anything to protect her charge. A dragon that hasn't yet learned to be feared. Whether you use her as a Dragon Cult ward, a surprisingly sympathetic antagonist, or the heart of a morally complex rescue mission, she brings genuine narrative weight to the table.
Perfect for adventurers who:
- Are building Dragon Cult lairs, kobold warrens, or draconic-themed dungeon encounters
- Want an NPC with emotional depth — a kobold the party might hesitate to fight
- Are running a campaign where dragons and their kin play a central role
- Collect character-driven miniatures for display as well as play
Encounter Hook:
The party descends into the collapsed mine expecting kobold ambushes — and finds them, but also finds this: a young kobold crouched over a hatchling with a cracked wing, hissing warnings at the adventurers while the dragon whimpers behind her. She won't move. She won't negotiate. The party has thirty seconds before the rest of the warren arrives.
Details
Printed at 32mm scale. The model with a detailed base comes as a single piece, base attached. The model with a plain base is supplied with the base separate, ready to attach with a small amount of glue. Both variants arrive with supports removed and fully cured, ready for priming and painting — or straight onto the table as-is. As with all resin prints, minor surface marks are occasionally possible; these are easily tidied up before painting.
