From Primal Collectibles' Chronicles of Excalibur range, Sir Lucan is sculpted as a weathered, broad-shouldered knight in layered plate and chainmail, one boot planted atop a ruined helm as though the battlefield is already behind him. His left hand grips a tall lance bearing a tattered pennant — the fabric rendered with convincing weight and motion — while a longsword rests at his hip and a second blade lies embedded in the rubble at his feet. The heraldic chest-piece, the belted tunic over mail, and the flowing cloak all speak to a man of rank who has nonetheless fought in the mud as readily as at court. The sculpted base is richly detailed with broken masonry and scattered armour fragments, making this a genuine display piece as well as a striking presence on any battle map.
Whether you run an Arthurian-inspired campaign, a chivalric low-magic setting, or simply need a knight of genuine gravitas to stand at the head of a royal household guard, Sir Lucan carries the weight of those stories effortlessly. He works equally well as a veteran player character — a Battle Master Fighter or an Oath of Devotion Paladin with a complicated past — or as a quest-giver whose loyalty to a fallen liege has left him stranded between duty and grief.
Well suited to adventurers who:
- Need a named knight NPC for an Arthurian, Camelot-inspired, or chivalric TTRPG campaign
- Are running a Fighter or Paladin who has survived more battles than they care to count
- Want a centrepiece display mini that rewards careful painting — the heraldry, chainmail links, and pennant offer superb detail for brush work
- Are building a royal court, a knightly order, or a tragic fallen-hero narrative arc
Encounter Hook:
The party arrives at a river crossing to find a lone knight standing motionless in the rain, a standard planted beside him bearing the colours of a kingdom that fell three years ago. He does not challenge them — he simply watches. When pressed, he tells them he is waiting for his king's body to be recovered from the marsh downstream, and that he will not leave until it is found. He has been here for six days. He is running out of time.
Details
Sir Lucan is supplied at 32mm scale. The decorative sculpted base is included and ships as a separate piece — a small amount of glue will secure it, and the model is designed to interact naturally with the base scenery. As with all our pieces, some minor support marks may be present after removal; these are easily tidied with a hobby knife or light sanding before priming.
