- ✔ Supplied unpainted — ideal as a centrepiece painting project
- ✔ Designed for display shelves and painting competitions
Mateus Stormholt is a warrior carved from spite and ceremony in equal measure. His ornate breastplate bears a skull-and-tendril emblem that speaks to an order steeped in dark covenant, while his elaborately engraved pauldrons and bracers suggest a man of rank who has never once let that rank make him soft. Long hair whipped by an unseen wind, jaw set with quiet fury — this is not a knight who charges. This is one who waits, chain coiled, and lets his opponents make the first mistake.
The sculpt from Primal Collectibles' Legacy of Blood series captures every surface with exceptional depth: the baroque scrollwork across his chest armour, the thorned links of the spiked chain draped between his fists, and the sweeping cape that flows behind him like a funeral shroud. Viewed from the rear, the cape's carved heraldic device across the mantle and the dangling weighted chain end reward the painter who takes their time with it.
This bust format makes Mateus a compelling canvas for advanced painting techniques — deep armour weathering, Non-Metallic Metal on the chain and clasps, or a high-contrast OSL approach using the implied moonlight of his gothic castle backdrop.
A fine choice for adventurers who:
- Want a display bust with genuine character presence and narrative weight
- Are practising NMM, OSL, or fine texture work on ornate armour surfaces
- Need a compelling visual anchor for a dark-fantasy or gothic horror campaign
- Are building a Legacy of Blood or Ravenloft-adjacent display collection
- Want to establish a villain, fallen paladin, or oath-breaker NPC on their shelf or game table
Encounter Hook:
The party tracks a missing noble into the catacombs beneath the old cathedral — and finds him kneeling before Mateus Stormholt, who stands motionless in the dark, chain slack between his hands, his eyes fixed not on the noble but on the door the adventurers just walked through. He's been expecting them for three days. He let them find the noble on purpose.
