This is the first pose in our King's Guard Spear Knight range from Galaad Miniatures, and it carries itself with exactly the weight you'd expect from a soldier who has stood watch over royalty long enough to become part of the architecture. Clad head-to-toe in articulated plate, the knight wears a visored sallet helm crested with a curved horn — the mark of a household guard who has earned his station. A heavy battle axe is levelled across the body in a two-handed grip, the stance coiled and ready, mid-stride into the threat rather than away from it.

The sculpt rewards close inspection: riveted pauldrons, layered tassets over a skirted tabard, articulated gauntlets, and sabatons worked with fine detail across every panel. The rear view reveals a beautifully clean silhouette — the flowing tabard and the long haft of the weapon catching the eye in equal measure. Whether you're fielding this knight as a palace enforcer, a Fighter PC with a martial archetype, or the opening scene of a coup your players didn't see coming, this sculpt carries genuine presence on the board.

A strong choice for adventurers who:

  • Need a fully-armoured human Fighter or Paladin PC with a distinctive martial identity
  • Want a named NPC guard captain, royal household soldier, or knightly antagonist
  • Are building a monarchist faction, a city watch elite unit, or a tyrant's personal retinue
  • Collect armoured knights for display alongside their painted forces

Encounter Hook:
The party is mid-negotiation with a city noble when the doors splinter inward. A King's Guard — this one, instantly recognisable by the horned helm and the axe held at the ready — steps through, flanked by two more. He does not announce himself. He simply says: "The king has questions about your activities near the vaults." What the party did — or didn't do — near those vaults is suddenly very relevant.
