In Japanese folklore, the Jorogumo is a spider demon who shifts between a seductive human form and something far more terrible. This bust captures her at that threshold — poised, composed, a glaive-like spear balanced across her body with unsettling ease, bat-like wings furled behind her shoulders. Her elaborate upswept hair is pinned with sharp ornamental spikes, and a small imp-like face peers from its perch near her wing joint, as though whispering secrets only she can hear.
