Description
In the sunless waters beneath the earth, something vast and ancient glides through the dark — its broad, thorn-fringed body a mockery of the manta ray, its twisted antlers reaching upward like the fingers of a drowning god.
- ✔ 32mm scale resin miniature, printed fresh to order in the UK
- ✔ Supplied unpainted and ready to prime
- ✔ Compatible with D&D, Pathfinder, and all tabletop RPGs
- ✔ Equally at home on the gaming table or the display shelf
The Ixitxachitl are among the most unsettling inhabitants of the Underdark's flooded reaches: flat-bodied, fiendishly intelligent aberrations that blend the shape of a ray with the corruption of the Abyss. This is variant 02 of our Ixitxachitl range, and it offers a distinctly different silhouette from the other poses — where the first is broad and symmetrical, this sculpt twists into a coiling, lateral form with a single dramatic spine arching overhead, the body folding beneath it in overlapping ridges of chitin and membrane. The third angle reveals an underside view of extraordinary detail: radiating bone-like structures, downward-facing barbs, and the unsettling suggestion of something about to open.
For Dungeon Masters running underwater campaigns, Underdark expeditions, or anything touching on aboleth lore or demonic cults, these miniatures bring an immediate sense of wrongness to the table — the kind of creature that makes players instinctively want to back away. Equally, for collectors and painters, the layered surface texture across the body — ridged, segmented, and laced with fin-like protrusions — offers exceptional opportunities for wet-blending, washes, and freehand bioluminescent effects.
Suited to adventurers who:
- Run Underdark or underwater D&D and TTRPG encounters
- Need aberration or fiend minis for aboleth cults or demon-touched waterways
- Want a centrepiece creature that reads immediately as dangerous and alien
- Enjoy painting complex, deeply textured organic surfaces
- Collect display miniatures from independent sculptors
Encounter Hook:
The flooded temple was supposed to be abandoned. But when the party dived beneath the altar stone, they found the water already occupied — three Ixitxachitl circling a submerged summoning circle still faintly glowing with infernal script, their antlered crowns catching the light as they turned, slowly, to face the intruders.
Scaled to 32mm. Available with or without a plain black base — the base is supplied unattached and can be secured with a small amount of hobby glue. Supports are removed before dispatch; as with all high-detail miniatures, minor marks may occasionally be present and are straightforward to clean up. Each piece is fully cured and ready for priming and painting.
