The Intellect Devourer is one of D&D's most unsettling creatures — a writhing, ambulatory brain supported on four bestial, clawed legs, created by mind flayers to serve as scouts and assassins in the tunnels of the Underdark. This sculpt from Novaminis captures all of that visceral wrongness in sharp, dynamic detail.
The pose here (Variation 01) places the creature in a low, predatory crouch — its four splayed legs spread wide, claws pressing into the ground as though it has just halted mid-stalk. The oversized brain-body dominates the sculpt, its deep cortical folds and lobes rendered with exceptional anatomical texture. Dark shadows pool naturally between the folds, making it a genuinely rewarding miniature to paint — whether you go for a wet, fleshy palette of pinks and purples or something more aberrant and otherworldly.
