This is the flying variant of MZ4250's MM2025 imp sculpt, and the pose captures every bit of the creature's chaotic menace. Wings spread wide with fine membrane detail across each panel, the imp hangs mid-flight — lean, muscular body tensed, clawed feet curled and ready, and a spiked tail coiling beneath it. A crown of small horns sits atop a sneering, sharp-eared face that radiates smug malevolence. This is not a creature caught off guard — this one came looking for trouble.
The sculpt rewards careful painting. The wing membranes offer a brilliant canvas for OSL or thin glazes, while the scaly lower legs, ridged tail, and defined musculature give painters plenty of surface texture to bring out with washes and drybrushing. Whether you're going classic red, shadowy Shadowfell-black, or something more unusual, this little devil will hold detail beautifully.
As a Warlock Familiar, a devil's scout, or simply a recurring nuisance your party keeps underestimating, the imp is one of D&D's most versatile minor fiends. This flying pose puts it exactly where it belongs — airborne, mobile, and impossible to pin down.
Particularly well-suited for adventurers who:
- Run Avernus, Planescape, or infernal-themed campaigns
- Need a Warlock familiar miniature with genuine character
- Want a minor devil that still commands attention on the table
- Collect fiends and lower-planar creatures for their display shelf
- Are painting winged miniatures and want a rewarding mid-size project
Encounter Hook: The party's Warlock swore blind their imp familiar wouldn't cause problems. Three sessions later, it has stolen the mayor's signet ring, bitten a guard captain, and is currently circling the city's bell tower with something clutched in its claws — grinning that horrible grin. Roll for initiative.
