Description

In the lightless depths of the Underdark, the illithid extends a claw — not in combat, but in the casual, unhurried gesture of a creature that already knows what you are thinking.

  • ✔ Large-scale display bust — significantly bigger than standard 32mm
  • ✔ Resin printed fresh to order in the UK
  • ✔ Supplied unpainted — ideal as a centrepiece painting project
  • ✔ Designed for display shelves and painting competitions

This bust captures the Mind Flayer at its most unsettling: muscular, alien, and utterly composed. Four facial tentacles hang from a broad, flattened face set beneath a bulbous cranium, while one arm reaches forward with splayed, talon-tipped fingers — a pose that reads equally as a psychic compulsion, a greeting, or a threat. The sculpt pays particular attention to the creature's strange physicality: the layered musculature of the torso, the organic ridging of the forearm bracers, and the fine surface texture across the skin all reward close inspection and a careful painter's brush.

As a bust rather than a full miniature, this piece is built for display. Whether you're painting for competition, building a showcase shelf, or want a commanding visual centrepiece to set the tone at your table, the illithid's presence is hard to ignore. It would also serve beautifully as a prop or inspiration piece for any campaign centred on the Underdark, Elder Brains, or the encroaching influence of the Far Realm.

Well suited for adventurers who:

  • Paint miniature busts as display or competition pieces
  • Collect fantasy creatures and monster busts
  • Want a centrepiece model for an Underdark or Far Realm campaign
  • Are building a villainous NPC roster that players will genuinely fear
  • Appreciate fine creature sculpts with strong character and anatomical detail

Encounter Hook:
The party follows a trail of mind-wiped travellers deep into the tunnels beneath Mzzt — and at the end of the passage, lit by the faint bioluminescence of the walls, an illithid stands motionless with one hand outstretched. It already knows they are here. It has been waiting. The question is whether it wants to feed, recruit, or negotiate — and the players have approximately six seconds to decide.
