Description

It came down from the frozen peaks wearing a skirt of feathers and bones, its bird-like face expressionless as it dragged a great axe through the snow — and when the first arrow struck, it didn't even flinch.

This Ice Troll from Monster Atlas is a genuinely distinctive take on the classic troll: part giant, part something older and stranger. Its broad, muscular frame is draped in a feathered hide skirt cinched with knotted rope and bone, while jagged icy protrusions erupt from its forearms like natural armour. The face — flat, beaked, and cold-eyed beneath a mane of feather-like fur — lends it an unsettling, almost avian intelligence. Three separate sculpts are available, each capturing a slightly different posture and weapon loadout, so Dungeon Masters can field multiple variants without repeating the same silhouette.

Across the range you'll find poses carrying a heavy battle axe, a sharpened spear, and a free-handed threatening stance — each one built around the same core sculpt but distinct enough to tell apart on the table. Whether you're placing a lone guardian at a mountain pass or building out an entire troll warband, these poses give you the flexibility to do it convincingly. They're equally at home as display pieces: the surface detail — every feather tuft, every bone toggle, every knuckle — rewards a careful painting session.

A great choice for adventurers who:

  • Need a troll encounter with more menace and visual character than a standard sculpt delivers
  • Are running arctic, highland, or wilderness campaign arcs and want memorable terrain monsters
  • Enjoy painting large-scale creatures with layered natural textures and strong focal points
  • Collect Monster Atlas sculpts and want a showpiece creature for their display shelf

Encounter Hook:
The village elder swore the thing patrolling the glacier road was a spirit — but the tracks are too heavy for a spirit, and the missing shepherd's crook is hanging from its belt alongside a dozen other trophies. The party can see it from the treeline, dragging something large back toward the peaks. They have one round before it disappears into the storm.

Details

Supplied at 32mm scale. The model and base are separate pieces — a small amount of superglue will secure them. Some sculpts interact with their base, so we recommend attaching it for the best visual result. Arrives unprimed and unpainted, ready for your brushwork straight away.
