Ice Mephit by Monster Atlas
Description
It perches on a frost-slicked crag, one glowing eye fixed on your party, bat-wings half-spread and clawed feet coiled — patient, contemptuous, and utterly at home in the cold.

Ice Mephits are minor elemental nuisances with a mean streak disproportionate to their size. Born from the intersection of elemental ice and air — or conjured from the Paraelemental Plane by a careless arcanist — they combine brittle arrogance with surprising nastiness. Their breath comes as a cone of numbing frost, and when slain, they detonate in a burst of ice shards that punishes any adventurer who thought getting close was a good idea. Small they may be, but underestimating one at the wrong moment has ended more than a few careers.
This sculpt from Monster Atlas captures that wiry menace beautifully. The Mephit is posed perched atop a rocky outcrop, its elongated limbs folded forward and its single visible eye glowing with cold malevolence. The leathery bat-wings flare outward, barbed and membranous, and the long hooked beak gives it a vulture-like severity that suits the creature's personality down to the ground. The rocky base integrates naturally with the figure, the Mephit's taloned feet curling over the stone as if it has claimed this vantage point as its own.
Perfect for adventurers who:
- Run arctic, tundra, or frozen dungeon encounters in D&D 5e or other TTRPG systems
- Need an elemental minion, familiar, or nuisance creature on the table
- Want a dynamic display piece with character and presence on the shelf
- Enjoy painting winged creatures with interesting skin and texture detail
Encounter Hook:
The glacial cavern has been silent for three days — until the paladin's torch picks out dozens of glowing pinprick eyes along the ceiling, and the temperature drops sharply. One Ice Mephit drops into the light, cocks its head, and asks in a scratchy whisper whether the party has brought an offering from the glacier's master — because if not, the others are very hungry.
Details
Supplied at 32mm scale. The figure and decorative rocky base are separate pieces for ease of painting; they fit together naturally and can be secured with superglue. The base is worth keeping — the pose is designed to work with it. Arrives ready for priming and painting, or use it straight from the box for your next session.
