- ✔ Resin printed fresh to order in the UK
- ✔ Supplied unpainted — ideal as a centrepiece painting project
- ✔ Designed for display shelves and painting competitions
This is no ordinary guardian. The Hydra Sphinx Head Bust captures a single aspect of a creature that defies easy classification — part raptor, part enigma, wholly unsettling. The sculpt presents a fierce eagle-like visage framed by dense, layered feathers that sweep upward in an imposing crest. Curling ram-style horns rise from either side of the face, lending the piece an archaic, divine quality — like something carved above the entrance to a forgotten temple. The expression is cold and commanding, the hooked beak open just enough to suggest it has something to say, and that you will not enjoy hearing it.
Mounted on a chunky ornate plinth with raised geometric detailing, this bust is built for display. Every surface rewards a painter's eye — the feather layers alone offer hours of dry-brushing and wash work, while the skull-like lower face introduces a striking contrast between avian life and skeletal death. Whether you place it on a shelf as a finished centrepiece or use it as visual reference for a patron, god-figure, or recurring NPC, it carries genuine weight as a display object.
Perfect for adventurers who:
- Want a challenging, deeply textured painting project with strong narrative presence
- Are building a fantasy bust collection with mythological or divine themes
- Need a visual anchor for a sphinx, oracle, or death-deity NPC in their campaign
- Collect display busts alongside their gaming miniatures
Encounter Hook:
The party has followed the map to a sealed vault door — and carved into the lintel above it is a face that looks disturbingly like the head mounted on the wall of the last inn they slept in. The innkeeper, they now recall, never blinked. Not once.
This bust is printed at display scale and comes mounted on an integrated ornate stone plinth base. As with all hand-finished display busts, minor clean-up of support contact points may occasionally be required — these are easily addressed with a small file or hobby knife before painting begins.
