Description

The undergrowth never moves the same way twice — and by the time your party realises that rustling canopy is not a tree, the Hunting Reptile has already chosen its quarry.

  • ✔ 32mm scale resin miniature, printed fresh to order in the UK
  • ✔ Supplied unpainted and ready to prime
  • ✔ Compatible with D&D, Pathfinder, and all tabletop RPGs
  • ✔ Equally at home on the gaming table or the display shelf

At first glance it resembles an overgrown tropical plant — a sprawling crown of broad, arching leaves erupting from a thick, armoured body. Look closer and the illusion collapses: scaled haunches coil beneath that leafy mass, taloned feet grip the earth, and a spiked, serpentine tail trails behind it like a whip ready to strike. This is the Hunting Reptile, a large-base creature that uses its bizarre plant-like silhouette to vanish into forest canopies and jungle undergrowth before lunging at anything unfortunate enough to wander within reach.

The sculpt captures that uncanny blend of beast and flora with real conviction. The body is covered in layered scales that transition seamlessly into leaf-shaped protrusions along the spine and torso, blurring the line between creature and vegetation. The crown of oversized leaves fans wide and wild, giving the miniature genuine presence on any tabletop. Mounted on a 51mm large base, it commands the space around it — exactly as a predator of this nature should. From the front, the hunched posture and grasping forearms suggest a creature poised to pounce; from the rear, the coiled tail and textured back reveal the full reptilian weight of the thing.

As an unpainted resin miniature, the Hunting Reptile is a rewarding subject for painters who enjoy contrast work — the leaf canopy lends itself to dappled greens and autumnal ochres, while the scaled underbelly suits darker, murkier tones that hint at time spent in shadow. Whether displayed as a painting centrepiece or deployed mid-session to unsettle a confident party, this miniature earns its place.

This miniature suits adventurers who:

  • Want a distinctive large creature for forest, jungle, or swamp encounters
  • Need a visually striking ambush predator or exotic beast for their campaign
  • Are running a nature-themed arc with unusual flora-fauna hybrids
  • Enjoy painting complex organic textures across scales, leaves, and claws
  • Are building a display piece that doubles as an encounter-ready gaming miniature

Encounter Hook: The party has been hired to investigate a logging camp on the edge of the Verdant Reach where three workers have vanished without a scream, without a trail, without a single sign of struggle — only their half-eaten meals left behind. As the adventurers follow the overgrown path toward the camp, a Ranger with a passive Perception above 15 notices that one of the trees at the treeline has legs. Initiative is rolled. The canopy erupts.
