Human Male Wizard 02 by Novaminis

He left the tower years ago — the arcane texts tucked under one arm, the words of a half-remembered incantation already shaping themselves between his outstretched fingers.

This is variation 02 of the Human Male Wizard from Novaminis — and where the first sculpt might carry a staff or stand in contemplation, this one is caught mid-stride and mid-spell, energy crackling with purpose. His long wild hair and full beard speak to years of solitary study and field-tested magic; this is no ivory-tower academic but a wizard who has seen the inside of a dungeon or two.

One hand is raised with fingers splayed in the precise gesture of an incantation — the kind of pose that says a Fireball is either already on its way or very nearly so. The other hand cradles an open spellbook, pages spread wide as if he's cross-referencing components at the last possible moment. A well-worn belt hung with pouches and pouches suggests a wizard who keeps his material components close and his contingency plans closer. His split travelling coat fans out behind him as he moves, and studded leather boots complete the look of a mage who walks as much as he meditates.

The dynamic mid-cast stance gives painters and Dungeon Masters a great deal to work with — the dramatic silhouette reads clearly from across a gaming table, while the detail in the facial hair, book pages, and belt fittings rewards close-up painting work. Equally suited to a seasoned player character or a memorable NPC wizard encountered deep in a dungeon or presiding over a city's mages' guild.

This miniature suits adventurers who:

• Are running a wizard player character and want a sculpt full of personality
• Need a veteran NPC mage — a mentor figure, a rival, or a dangerous academic gone rogue
• Want a dynamic spellcasting pose that looks great on both the table and the display shelf
• Are building out an arcane faction, mages' conclave, or magic-heavy encounter group
• Paint character pieces and want expressive detail in the face and hands to bring to life

Encounter Hook: The party arrives at the entrance to the Sunken Archive only to find a dishevelled wizard already there — coat still swirling, spellbook open, clearly mid-incantation. He barely glances at them. "Either help me hold this ward or stand behind me," he says, gesturing at the darkness beyond. "The thing inside doesn't much care which you choose."
