  • ✔ Supplied unpainted and ready to prime
  • ✔ Compatible with D&D, Pathfinder, and all tabletop RPGs
  • ✔ Equally at home on the gaming table or the display shelf

The Horse Spider is one of those creatures that lodges itself firmly in a player's memory — not because it is the most powerful thing they've ever faced, but because it is so deeply, specifically wrong. The equine head, complete with flowing mane and compound insectoid eyes, snarls forward on a body supported by eight chitinous legs. A swollen, segmented abdomen dominates the rear of the sculpt, pitted and textured with the kind of biological detail that makes painters reach instinctively for their brown washes. Every element of this design commits to its premise: this is not a spider with a horse's face bolted on — it is a creature that has evolved, or perhaps been cursed, into a coherent and deeply unsettling whole.

The sculpt is mounted on a large 51mm oval base, giving it the physical presence its stat block deserves. The pose captures the creature mid-skitter, front limbs raised and head lowered in threat display — there's real kinetic energy here, the sense that it's about to close the distance before the party has finished processing what they're looking at. Whether you paint it in natural earth tones as a forest predator, or go pale and necrotic for something conjured from the Underdark, the surface detail rewards careful attention at every stage.

As a large creature, it fits cleanly into the D&D encounter framework as an ambush predator, a druid's corrupted companion, or the product of some fey bargain gone catastrophically wrong. On the display shelf, it holds its own as a centrepiece model — the kind of piece that draws the eye across a cabinet.

  • Adventurers running wilderness ambush encounters or corrupted-forest arcs
  • Dungeon Masters who want a large creature with genuine visual menace
  • Painters looking for a sculpt with rich surface texture across both the arachnid body and the equine head
  • Collectors who appreciate creatures that sit in that precise overlap between dread and fascination

Encounter Hook

The party is three hours into the Ashwood when they find the horses — or what's left of them. Cocooned in silk, suspended from the branches above the trail. Before anyone can speak, the canopy shifts, and something drops silently to the path behind the rearguard. It doesn't charge. It just watches, mandibles working, eight eyes reflecting torchlight from the dark.
