Horror From Elsewhere Bust by Witchsong Miniatures

It did not arrive through any door — it simply was not here, and then it was, and the scholars who looked upon it did not remain scholars for long.

• ✔ Large-scale display bust — significantly bigger than standard 32mm
• ✔ Resin printed fresh to order in the UK
• ✔ Supplied unpainted — ideal as a centrepiece painting project
• ✔ Designed for display shelves and painting competitions

Some horrors wear familiar shapes — fangs, claws, the broad silhouette of something once animal or once human. The Horror From Elsewhere wears none of those courtesies. Its form is wrong in ways that resist cataloguing: a skeletal torso laced with sinew-like tendrils, a skull-faced visage ringed by membranous frills and erupting horn-like spines, flesh that seems less grown than assembled from principles that predate biology. This is not a monster that evolved. It is something that arrived.

Sculpted by Witchsong Miniatures, this display bust captures that alien wrongness with remarkable fidelity. The tendon-like surface textures crawl across the chest and neck, the hollow eye sockets carry a cold, ancient intelligence, and the radiating crown of spines and wing-membrane fins gives the piece a silhouette unlike anything in the standard bestiary. Mounted on an ornate geometric plinth, it commands a shelf the moment it is placed.

As a painting project, this bust rewards every hour you invest. The layered organic textures — veins, sinew, exposed bone — lend themselves to extreme contrast techniques, Object Source Lighting from those sunken eye sockets, or a pallid necrotic palette that makes the piece look like something half-dead and half-transcendent. Whether you push it towards deep-space void colours or rot-touched eldritch flesh, the sculpt holds the detail.

• Painters looking for a large-format sculpt that rewards ambitious NMM, OSL or blending techniques
• Collectors drawn to cosmic horror aesthetics and the Witchsong Miniatures range

Encounter Hook: The party has been tracking a series of disappearances in the city of Mirewatch — scholars, cartographers, anyone who works with maps of the planes. When they finally break into the locked study of the last missing academic, every wall is covered in scrawled equations and plane-diagrams, and at the centre of the room, hovering three inches above the floor with no discernible means of support, is the Horror From Elsewhere. It does not attack. It simply turns its face toward them and waits, as if deciding whether they are interesting enough to keep.
