This Horned Devil miniature from the Monster Manual 2025 captures everything that makes these greater devils so imposing. The sculpt presents a tall, muscular humanoid figure with a bare torso bisected by a ridge of bony protrusions, ragged loincloth robes torn at the hem, and a long sinuous tail curling behind it. Two great bat-wings sweep back dramatically, and a pair of curved ram-like horns crown a snarling, sharp-featured face caught mid-roar. In one hand the devil grips a tall ceremonial trident-topped staff, its prongs swept like wicked antlers — the other hand is raised, fingers curled in command or threat.
This is a devil that reads as both a frontline warrior and a figure of authority — a perfect visual fit for a Cornugon, a powerful named fiend, or even a warlock patron given physical form. The pose is confrontational but composed, suggesting a creature that does not need to lunge because everything has already gone exactly to plan.
The level of surface detail — musculature, wing membrane, scaled skin along the arms and tail, and the intricate staff — makes this a rewarding painting project as well as a table-ready threat.
This miniature is a great choice for adventurers who:
- Are running a Nine Hells or Avernus campaign and need a heavyweight devil encounter
- Want a commanding, lore-accurate Horned Devil (Cornugon) for D&D 2024 or 5e
- Are building a display warband of infernal fiends
- Need an imposing warlock patron or BBEG given physical form
- Enjoy a detailed painting project with strong wing and armour surface work
Encounter Hook: The party has negotiated their way deep into the fortress of Dis, but as they near the vault they seek, the corridor ahead fills with the beat of enormous wings. A Horned Devil named Vexaroth — Steward of the Third Gate — lands squarely between them and their goal, staff planted on the stone floor with a crack that echoes down every passage. He does not attack. He simply informs them, with absolute calm, that they have already forfeited something they did not know they possessed.
