Description

Something massive moves through the dark below — not by sight, but by the rhythmic scrape of curved blades on stone.

  • ✔ 32mm scale resin miniature, printed fresh to order in the UK
  • ✔ Supplied unpainted and ready to prime
  • ✔ Compatible with D&D, Pathfinder, and all tabletop RPGs
  • ✔ Equally at home on the gaming table or the display shelf

The Hook Horror is one of the Underdark's most distinctive predators: a towering, bipedal monstrosity with a vulture-like skull, a body bristling with sharp bony protrusions, and forearms that end in enormous curved hooks rather than hands. This sculpt from Yasashii Kyojin Studios captures the creature mid-stalk — weight shifted forward, one foot raised, those terrible hooks held low and ready. The spined carapace covering its back and shoulders is rendered with impressive texture, and the reptilian taloned feet and whip-like tail give the piece a restless, coiled energy that translates brilliantly to the tabletop.

Hook Horrors hunt in packs, navigate by echolocation, and have an unsettling intelligence that makes them far more dangerous than a simple brute encounter. Whether you're using them as territorial Underdark predators, thralls of a mind flayer colony, or the thing that's been picking off miners for weeks, this miniature brings the threat to life in a way that a token simply cannot. It works equally well as a centrepiece on a display shelf — the sculpt holds detail across every angle and rewards careful painting.

Perfect for adventurers who:

  • Run Underdark adventures and need creatures with genuine menace on the board
  • Want a mid-tier monster encounter that the players won't forget
  • Are painting collectors drawn to creatures with strong surface texture and dynamic silhouettes
  • Need a Boss Monster or wandering threat that feels genuinely alien

Encounter Hook:
The dwarven supply route through the lower tunnels has gone silent — three caravans in a month, no survivors, only the claw-gouged walls and a rhythmic clicking sound the scouts describe as almost musical. The party descends to find a Hook Horror matriarch has claimed the passage as her nesting ground, and she has had weeks to fortify it.
