This homunculus sculpt from MZ4250's Monster Manual 2025 range captures the creature mid-stance — wings fully spread and arched overhead, clawed feet planted wide on its round base, and small arms drawn close to its compact body. The face carries that distinctive homunculus character: large bat-like ears, a flat snout with just a hint of a sneer, and heavy-lidded eyes that suggest it knows exactly what you're planning. The wing membrane is richly detailed with fine vein structures, and the skin texture across the body reads beautifully at tabletop scale.
Homunculi sit in a fascinating design space for dungeon masters — small enough to be dismissed, dangerous enough to change an encounter. Whether it's perched on the shoulder of a necromancer BBEG, used as a warlock's familiar, or scouting ahead of a party through cavern tunnels, this sculpt earns its place on the table. It paints up equally well in classic leathery browns and purples or in something more unsettling — pale flesh tones, glassy eyes, and a base that hints at wherever its master resides.
This miniature suits adventurers who:
- Need a warlock or wizard familiar with genuine presence on the table
- Are running encounter groups featuring an arcane villain with a homunculus servant
- Want a small-but-characterful creature for Underdark or dungeon crawl sessions
- Enjoy painting expressive creature faces and detailed wing anatomy
- Collect across the Monster Manual 2025 range from MZ4250
Encounter Hook: The party has tracked a rogue artificer to his workshop, but the door is locked and the lights are out. A faint leather-and-sulphur smell hangs in the air — and then, from somewhere above the lintel, two heavy-lidded eyes open in the dark. The homunculus has been watching them for the last ten minutes. Its master already knows they're here.
