Holly is a winter owlbear NPC from Great Grimoire's Snowbound Mysteries collection, and she is exactly as endearing as she sounds. Sculpted in a rotund, upright stance, she carries an ornate lantern decorated with a sprig of holly — the kind of detail that rewards a close look and makes painters very happy indeed. Her enormous owl eyes, tufted brow feathers, and thick furry body are rendered with real warmth, and the woollen scarf looped around her neck suggests this is no feral beast of the wilderness. Holly is a fixture of somewhere — a winter village, an enchanted forest, a festive festival market — and she clearly belongs there.
For DMs, Holly works beautifully as a beloved local creature, a familiar, a festive quest-giver's companion, or even a mischievous spirit of Midwinter given beastly form. Encounter Hook:
The village elder insists the lantern-bearer seen near the frozen well each night is nothing to fear — just old Holly, the owlbear who's lived at the forest's edge since before anyone can remember. But three nights ago, Holly's light went out, and this morning the well was frozen solid from the inside. Someone needs to find her.
Holly is printed at 32mm scale and comes supplied with a plain black base as standard. A decorative base upgrade is available — if you select this option, please include a note at checkout specifying which base style you'd like, as there are three options available. The base arrives unattached and can be secured easily with a small amount of glue. Holly arrives cleaned of supports and ready for priming and painting, or she can head straight to the shelf as-is.
