This is pose 2 of our Hippopotamus range from The Toadstool Weaver, and it means business. Where the first pose might be lumbering forward, this sculpt captures the creature mid-threat display — mouth thrown open, every fold of its thick hide rendered in vivid detail, its stance planted and immovable. It's the hippo your players will actually fear. In D&D 5e terms, a hippopotamus is a Large beast with a bite that can end arguments very quickly, and this miniature embodies exactly that explosive aggression.
Equally at home on a gaming table as a serious encounter piece or displayed on a shelf as a showcase wildlife sculpt, this miniature rewards painters who want to work with texture — the wrinkled skin, the cavernous mouth interior, and the heavy limbs all offer excellent surface interest. Whether you're running a jungle hex-crawl, a cursed river delta, or a druid's wayward companion, this hippo earns its place.
Perfect for adventurers who:
- Run wilderness, safari, or river-based D&D and TTRPG encounters
- Need a Large beast with genuine table presence and a threatening pose
- Enjoy detailed animal sculpts as display or diorama pieces
- Want to collect multiple poses from the same creature range
Encounter Hook:
The party's barge has run aground on a sandbar in the middle of the Sunken Delta — and the territorial bull that considers this stretch of river his personal domain has just surfaced three metres off the port bow, jaws open, nostrils flaring, and showing absolutely no intention of letting them pass without a fight.
Details
Supplied at 32mm scale. Available with or without a plain black base — the base comes unattached and can be fixed in place with a spot of glue. Support marks have been removed, though minor imperfections inherent to the printing process may occasionally be present; these are easily tidied up before priming. The miniature arrives fully cured and ready for paint.
