Description

Once a noble pegasus soaring above the battlefield, it fell beneath the shadow of death and rose again — ribs exposed, feathers sharp as blades, and eyes hollow with an otherworldly hunger.

  • ✔ Multi-miniature bundle — multiple variations in one order
  • ✔ 32mm scale resin, printed fresh to order in the UK
  • ✔ All pieces supplied unpainted and ready to prime
  • ✔ Great value for building out encounter groups or display collections

The Helhest is a creature drawn from Norse folklore — a three-legged spectral horse that heralds death and pestilence. This sculpt by Epic Miniatures reimagines it as a skeletal winged horse: its ribcage exposed beneath skin stretched tight, great feathered wings spread wide in a rearing pose, and its skull-like head thrown back with terrifying vitality. The decorative base of billowing clouds beneath its hooves adds a sense of dreadful majesty — as though this creature descends from some bleak sky between worlds.

This bundle includes two variants of the sculpt: a supported version and an unsupported version, giving you flexibility depending on your preferred approach. Both are printed on a large 51mm base. The level of feather detail across the wings — individually sculpted primaries and layered coverts — makes this a rewarding piece to paint, whether you take it towards bone-white desiccation or something more dramatic with spectral glows and deep shadow washes.

Equally at home as a mounted encounter piece on the gaming table or as a centrepiece display model, the Helhest commands attention from every angle.

This miniature suits adventurers who:

  • Run undead or Norse-themed campaigns and need an aerial threat with genuine presence
  • Want a large creature that doubles as a display piece between sessions
  • Are looking for a painting challenge with complex organic and skeletal textures
  • Need a servant of a death deity, psychopomp, or Shadowfell herald for their BBEG

Encounter Hook: The party's griffon rider scout returns wounded, her mount refusing to fly — and then they hear it: a sound like wind through bone. A Helhest circles the hilltop fortress they were sent to relieve, and the smoke rising from within tells them they are already too late. The creature lands at the gate and waits, as if it knows they will come to it.
