Professor Margaux de la Croix is the Headmistress of the Arcane University — an elven scholar of considerable power and even more considerable composure. This sculpt captures her mid-incantation: cloak billowing dramatically behind her, a well-thumbed spellbook open in one hand and a wand raised aloft in the other. Her expression is one of cool authority, entirely unbothered by whatever magical calamity she's currently overseeing.
The detail on this piece is exceptional throughout. The long academic coat is covered in ornate scrollwork along the front panels, and the billowing cape — rendered with a striking quilted or latticed texture on the reverse — gives the sculpt real dynamism and visual weight. Her pointed ears mark her elven heritage clearly, while her composed, slightly severe expression leaves no doubt that she is very much in charge. The base is scattered with melted candles, a skull, and scattered bones — hinting that her methods of instruction may be more unorthodox than her demeanour suggests.
Whether she is a mentor figure for the party, a gatekeeper of forbidden knowledge, or the BBEG behind a conspiracy of arcane experimentation, Margaux is a character who demands attention the moment she enters the room — and the sculpt delivers that presence in miniature form.
A great choice for adventurers who:
- Run academy, university, or magical institution campaigns
- Need a commanding elven wizard NPC with genuine gravitas
- Want a mentor, patron, or morally ambiguous authority figure
- Are building a display piece centred on arcane scholarship and elven character design
- Need a high-detail showpiece that rewards careful brush work — especially on the cloak and spellwork trim
Encounter Hook: The party has been summoned to Headmistress de la Croix's study — not for a reward, but because three senior students have vanished from the restricted library, and the wards she personally placed on the room were not broken. They were unlocked. She believes someone on the inside is involved, and she is looking at the adventurers with the particular expression of someone who already knows the answer and is waiting for them to catch up.
