Halfling Ranger (Sturian) by DM Stash

Small in stature, long in patience — Sturian has put bolts through hearts at distances that left larger rangers red-faced with envy.

Sturian is a halfling who carries himself with the quiet authority of someone who has survived things that would break taller folk. Dressed in layered leather armour etched with runic detailing, a broad travel cloak billowing behind him, and a well-worn crossbow levelled with the calm of long practice, he reads not as plucky sidekick but as seasoned operative. The sculpt captures that particular halfling quality — deceptive ease masking coiled readiness — with a weathered face framed by loose hair and a short beard that speaks to hard miles on the road.

The scenic base places him atop a rough outcrop of broken stone, dried leaves scattered at his feet, giving the whole piece a sense of a ranger holding a vantage point and waiting for exactly the right moment. Whether you paint him in muted travel-stained tones or pick out the armour detail in something more distinctive, the sculpt rewards careful brushwork across every surface.

Sturian is part of DM Stash's Shadow Over Westlook collection — a dark urban fantasy setting rich with intrigue, shadowy factions, and the kind of morally complex NPCs that make campaigns genuinely memorable. He works equally well as a player character for a halfling ranger build, a veteran scout NPC the party hires for local knowledge, or a grey-hat operative with loyalties the players will spend several sessions untangling.

Particularly well suited for adventurers who:

• Are building a halfling ranger or rogue character and want a mini with genuine grit rather than whimsy
• Need a reliable scout or informant NPC for an urban or wilderness campaign
• Enjoy painting layered armour, fabric, and fine facial detail on a character-rich sculpt
• Want a display piece that holds its own on the shelf between sessions

Encounter Hook: The party has been tracking a string of disappearances along the Westlook dockside for three nights running. On the fourth night, crouched atop a crumbling customs warehouse with a crossbow across his knee, Sturian finds them before they find him — and he already knows far more about the killings than he's letting on. Whether he becomes an ally, a rival, or the source of the next complication is entirely up to the table.
