Grung Hut by Mia Kay M3DM
Description
Deep in the fetid marshlands, where the air hums with poison dart frogs and the mud swallows boots whole, a cluster of woven-reed huts marks the territory of the grung — and this one belongs to someone important.
- ✔ Resin terrain piece, printed fresh to order in the UK
- ✔ Supplied unpainted — primes and paints easily
- ✔ Compatible with standard 28mm–32mm miniature scales
- ✔ Works on the gaming table and as part of a display diorama
This tribal hut captures the hand-crafted aesthetic of grung architecture with remarkable fidelity. The circular wattle walls are woven in a tight diagonal pattern, bound with knotted cordage and reinforced at the base with a ring of bundled bamboo poles. The conical thatched roof layers leaf-like fronds over a skeleton of lashed timber, gathered and tied at the peak with rawhide knots. The entrance is framed by a carved totem — a snarling grung warrior picked out in relief, making clear that this dwelling belongs to no ordinary amphibian. Every element tells a story before a single miniature is placed on the board.
Whether you're running a grung encampment in a jungle hex crawl, a Yuan-ti border dispute, or a Tomb of Annihilation-inspired trek through the Chultan wilderness, this hut gives your encounter tile an immediate sense of lived-in, dangerous place. It works equally well as a display piece for collectors building out a swamp or tribal diorama.
Perfect for adventurers who:
- Are running jungle, swamp, or tribal wilderness encounters
- Want scatter terrain that adds genuine narrative weight to a battle map
- Are building a grung village or amphibian faction warband display
- Enjoy painting detailed textured surfaces — wicker, thatch, carved wood, and knotted rope all reward a brush
- Collect terrain pieces as display or diorama centrepieces
Encounter Hook:
The party has been tasked with negotiating the release of a captive ranger held somewhere inside a grung war-chief's compound. Scouting the perimeter, they spot this hut — its carved door totem distinct from the others, a faint glow emanating from within. Is it the war-chief's dwelling, a shaman's ritual space, or a trap waiting to close around them the moment they step inside?
Scaled to 32mm. The hut is supplied as a single piece attached to its base, ready for priming and painting or use as-is straight from the box. As with all hand-finished pieces, minor surface variations may occur — any small marks from the printing process can be cleaned up easily before painting.
