The Grick is one of D&D's most unsettling ambush predators — a worm-bodied monstrosity ringed with grasping tentacles and a razor-edged beak, perfectly evolved to haunt the tunnels of the Underdark. This sculpt by The Toadstool Weaver captures that threat with real character: the creature rears upward, its four tentacles splaying wide and curling at their tips, sucker-lined undersides exposed as it lunges toward prey. The segmented, muscular body tapers below, coiled and tensed, while the hooked beak gapes open at the centre of the tentacle mass — every element designed to unsettle.
The pose is mid-strike — reared up and fully committed — which makes this miniature equally expressive as a painted display piece and genuinely menacing on the tabletop. The surface detail on the tentacles, with their rows of distinct circular suckers and subtle texture, gives painters a wealth of contrast points to work with. Whether you go for a pale cave-flesh palette, deep purples, or something altogether more alien, the sculpt rewards the effort.
Gricks are classic Underdark filler-turned-threat. They blend into tunnel walls until something warm-blooded wanders past, then strike with terrifying speed.
