Description
It descended from the cavern ceiling without a sound — a mass of writhing, branch-like tentacles erupting from a feathered, raptor-headed body, drifting through the dark like something that had never needed the ground at all.
- ✔ 32mm scale resin miniature, printed fresh to order in the UK
- ✔ Supplied unpainted and ready to prime
- ✔ Compatible with D&D, Pathfinder, and all tabletop RPGs
- ✔ Equally at home on the gaming table or the display shelf
The Grell is one of D&D's most unsettling aberrations: a floating, predatory intellect encased in a feathered, avian-skulled body, its limbs replaced entirely by coiling, barbed tentacles that snatch prey from above before the victim even registers the threat. This second sculpt in the Grell range from Yasashii Kyojin Studio captures that eerie weightlessness — the creature appears mid-hover, its mass of sinuous tendrils splaying upward and outward like the bare branches of a dead tree, rendered in extraordinary organic detail. The feathered, hooked-beak head below anchors the silhouette in something almost recognisable before the rest of the anatomy makes clear this is nothing natural.
At 60mm tall, this is a substantially sized piece — commanding on the tabletop and eye-catching on a display shelf. Whether you're statting it up as a wandering Underdark predator or building a set piece around a Grell nest, this sculpt carries the weight of a genuine encounter-worthy threat. This is pose 2 of our Grell range — pose 1 features a different tentacle arrangement and silhouette, so adventurers who want visual variety across multiple encounters will find both well worth having.
Perfect for adventurers who:
- Run Underdark campaigns and want distinctive, lore-accurate aberration encounters
- Need a memorable mid-level threat to ambush a party from above
- Collect and paint creatures from D&D's weirder corners of the monster manual
- Want a dramatic display piece with genuine sculptural presence
Encounter Hook:
The party follows the map to the merchant's last known location — a passage deep beneath the city sewers. They find his lantern still burning, his pack untouched, and three parallel gouges carved into the stone ceiling above, each one four feet long. Something has been hunting here, and the silence suggests it hasn't finished.
